Diet and Nutrition
You need ample intake of nutrients including protein, folic acid, calcium, and iron. These are very essential for nourishing your baby. You will also require a folic acid supplement as it helps prevent defects of the neural tube that supports brain and spinal cord.
You should also focus on your intake of protein. This is used to create new tissue and must increase during pregnancy. Calcium is essential for the healthy development of bones and teeth. Hence, make sure you’re getting the right dose of dairy products, legumes, and leafy green vegetables. Iron is also required during pregnancy as the mother needs continual increase of baby’s blood volume.
This is the perfect time to seek consultation from a gynaecologist. In case, you are not too sure about choosing a good obstetrician, you can consult with your, family or friends for a recommendation. As soon as an appointment is made with your obstetrician, it is time to solve your queries. You need to ask how often you need to visit the doctor, the changes to be made to diet and lifestyle habits, type of vitamins to be taken and a lot more.
