Pregnancy Encyclopedia – Week 28
This is the end of second trimester and the week signifies the beginning of the end of your pregnancy term. You will begin a new journey now. The appointments with the doctor will be more frequent and your doctor will begin showing fetal movement charts.
Your baby is now the size of an eggplant! It is consistently putting layers of fat and weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds. The baby measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches. The wrinkly skin will start to get smoother. Baby’s lungs are mature enough and can survive in the outside world if it has to be born now!
The uterus will be significantly seen above your navel region. You may also have added couple of more pounds by now. Your tummy looks bigger.
Pregnancy Symptoms Week 28
You will have trouble sleeping due to your hormones or nerves; or both! Shortness of breath is common because the baby continues to crowd your lungs. You will also feel aches and pains and get uncomfortable due to hormone fluctuations. The Braxton Hicks contractions get stronger or more frequent.
At 28 weeks pregnant, you’ve completed the 2nd trimester of your pregnancy. You need to take care of yourself and your body. Include some snacks in your diet. You can enjoy hummus with fresh vegetables, low-fat cheese, low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat yogurt with a cup of fruit, roasted nuts, apple, dark chocolate, dried fruits etc.
Now that your trips to for regular check-ups are happening more often, it is crucial to take put some time and jot down some queries and concerns you may have. Make sure you discuss these with your doctor before each appointment.
